The Contested Hemisphere: In 2026 the U.S. removed the hub through which all three powers operated. Their influence did not leave with it. It shifted into forms that are harder to strike: Chinese infrastructure and finance, Russian military footholds, and Iranian illicit networks. Energy connects all three, so energy is also where U.S. policy has the most leverage and the most room to backfire.
