VPAF 103 Chair's Rport

Mary Kay Stratis

Syracuse University sets aside a Week of Remembrance each year, during which the 35 SU students lost in the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 are remembered. This year Remembrance Week is scheduled during the week of October 7. Many activities, presentations, and displays are planned for that week, culminating with a meaningful ceremony conducted by the current class of Remembrance Scholars at the Place of Remembrance on campus on Friday, October 11. It is appropriate that we have established a board tradition of meeting during that week and then holding our VPAF 103, Inc. General Membership meeting on the Saturday that closes this special week. A special guest at both the October 11 events and the October 12 meeting will be the Lord Advocate of Scotland, Frank Mulholland. This year our Board of Directors will meet on campus on Thursday evening, October 10 at 7 p.m., those wishing to gather together for dinner may join our group on Friday evening at the Sheraton University Inn on campus, and the meeting for our General Membership will be held in the University’s Bird Library on Saturday, October 12, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Plans for this meeting include invited speakers, including the Remembrance Scholars. In addition, the Pan Am Archives are made available to our members and guests.
