Virtual VPAF103 Memorial

A Message to All Friends of the Victims of Pan Am 103 regarding a memorial service on December 21, 2021

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, many aspects of our lives have had to temporarily change, among which are our traditions that we have come to cherish for so many years. As we prepare to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103, and understanding and accepting that we cannot gather as we have in the past at either The Cairn in Arlington National Cemetery or at Syracuse University, we will honor and remember the 270 victims of Pan Am Flight 103 virtually, and we will place wreaths from VPAF 103, Inc. and Syracuse University at The Cairn on December 21st.

Syracuse University’s Hendricks Chapel will offer a virtual memorial service to honor and remember our friends and loved ones, especially the 35 SU students. The ceremony at Syracuse University will begin at 2:03 p.m. ET on Monday, December 21st. Chaplains, Remembrance Scholars, and Lockerbie Scholars will offer pre-recorded prayers, reflections, and a reading of the names of the 35 students who were lost that day. Personal reflections and memories can be submitted when you sign up for the service, and will be included in the ceremony. A recording of the service will be available on the Hendricks Chapel Facebook page following the livestream.

The VPAF 103 memorial service committee has thought long and hard about the best way go about a virtual ceremony this year. It was decided that we would share the link to past ceremonies that have been taped by C-Span. Please use this link below to view the ceremony of your choosing:
