Despite the rather brisk wind on this past December 21, we met once again at the Scottish Cairn at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at 1:30 p.m. for a service marking the 27th anniversary of the Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland.
Chaplain Joe Mason of the U.S. Army offered both the invocation and benediction; the Pender United Methodist Church Choir of Fairfax, Va., sang two musical songs, as well as the National Anthem; and our new bagpiper, Kevin Donnelly, played three pieces.
This year’s speakers included Homeland Security Advisor Lisa Monaco, FBI Director James Comey, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, TSA Administrator Peter Neffenger, and documentary filmmaker Ken Dornstein, creator of the Frontline film "My Brother’s Bomber". Their talks were truly stirring, and we were grateful to have them all willing to brave the cold!
Below are links to the prepared remarks by each of the speakers.
