Steven Alterman

Received the Keeping the Spirit Alive Award on Februrary 22, 2024

Steve Alterman served as a member of the ASAC, the Aviation Security Advisory Committee, for 22 years. As Chairman, ASAC became a great source of information to help the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) develop programs to increase security in the aviation industry. Steve is well respected by TSA Administrators and all members, past and present. He has promoted aviation security as a 19 year member of the Federal Aviation Administration Environment and Energy Subcommittee of Research and Engineering, chairman for 9 years; and as a 6 year member of the Federal Aviation Administration Management Advisory Council, chairman for 3 years. Steve began his career at the Bureau of Enforcement for the former U.S. Aeronautics Board. He joined the Cargo Airline Association (CAA) in 1975, serving as president for the past 33 years. Steve Alderman's work over the years has improved the safety of air travel and supported the mission of goals of VPAF103. He has been a friend of our organization and a champion of airline security throughout his professional career.
