Jane and Jack Schultz

Jack Schultz – Jack Schultz lost his son, Thomas, in Pan Am Flight 103 bombing. He was chair of the Cairn Committee. He was responsible for raising the funds needed to build the Cairn in Arlington National Cemetery as well as the funds to establish an endowment to ensure there were funds for the future costs of maintaining the memorial. 

Jane Schultz – Jane Schultz, mother of Thomas Schultz, was responsible for getting an Act of Congress to place the Carin in Arlington Cemetery. President Bill Clinton, George Esson, chief of police for Dumfries and Galloway, Nicholas Bright and Jane broke ground for the Carin in 1993. Jane planned the Carin dedication ceremony with the help of the White House administration and the Secret Service. As the Mistress of Ceremony for the dedication, she spoke on behalf of the families and, at the end of the ceremony, introduced family members to President Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
