Donald Bogie was a member of the Lockerbie Town Council when Pan Am 103 exploded over the town. Hearing the explosion, he immediately opened the Town Hall, which became Command Central for the entire operation of the aftermath. Donald suggested that a Cairn be built in the U.S. in memory of the Pan Am victims and he was instrumental in designing it and getting the stones from Corsehill Quarry near Lockerbie to build it. He worked with Jane Schultz to organize a trip for many Lockardians for the dedication of the Pan An 103 Cairn. He continues to welcome and guide families as well as strangers who come to Lockerbie to pay their respects.
