Following the 103rd day march on the White House and Congress in 1989, President George H.W. Bush directed a review of aviation security. Secretary of Labor Ann McLaughlin Korologos was named Chairman of the Aviation Security Committee (ASC). VPAF103 was represented on the committee. Based on recommendations of the ASC, The Committee’s 1990 report was the based for the Airport Aviation Security Act passed by Congress in 1990. One of the most significant results of that legislation was that airline and airport security.became the responsibility of the State Department, not the airlines.
